URL redirects (301)

You can use URL redirects when you change the link to an already-existing page (i.e.: You change the page's name in Pages.). The old link would still exist in Google, but it would report an error when clicked on it. With the redirection you keep the old link and only redirect it to a new one. This affects SEO as well.

You can also redirect pages that were not made in Shopamine (i.e.: from your old website on a different platform).

EXAMPLE: Your previous site consisted of many categories in the main menu (Shirts, Pants, Shoes, Jewelry...). Now you would like to update and change the main menu.

You would like to combine all this subcategories under one category called Products. But their link would change as well. (i.e.: the link www.myshop.com/shirts would change to www.myshop.com/products/shirts.). The previous link would report an error (i.e.: if you shared the previous link on Facebook or anywhere else, the link would not work anymore after you made the changes.).

But 301 URL redirects allow you to keep the old links. By clicking on them, you would simply be redirected to the new pages.

How to set up in Shopamine:

  1. Open Menu > All Settings > Account&Billing > URL Redirects.
  2. Click + Add redirect.
  3. In the left column you choose the previous link and in the right column you choose the new link. (In case the previous link does not exist anymore you will have to type the link by hand.)
  4. Click Save.
